One issue I've noticed with my current vlsd is that whenever my car 3-wheels with one of the rear wheels off the ground, the car doesn't want to move. If I'm pulling into a driveway slowly, I really have to rev the engine to get the car to creep until both wheels hit the ground - at which point it moves fine again. It happens at speed too, I hit the same odd hill in my parking lot each day and the car seems to lose the ability to move itself normally. This behavior seems like an open diff to me, so I'm fairly certain it means there's an issue with the diff, but I wanted the input of others before I swapped it out. I recently changed the fluid, but I'm aware this shouldn't have too much of an effect on the locking function. I tested the diff with one wheel in the air and the other on the ground, and the one in the air was difficult to turn. I assumed that meant it was working fine, but the 3-wheeling issue leaves me a little stumped.
